Teilzeit | befristet (12 Monate) | Clinic and Polyclinic for Internal Medicine III

 

The Else Kröner-funded project "Investigating the Role of Clonal Hematopoiesis of Indeterminate Potential (CHIP) in Human Aging and Diseases: Integration of Genetic, Clinical, and AI Approaches" is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD student to join the research group of PD Dr. Judith S. Hecker at the University Hospital of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). This project offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge research at the interface of hematology, oncology, and computational biology.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Conduct research into the role of CHIP in aging and disease, using advanced techniques in cell culture, FACS, mouse models, genetics, AI, and clinical data analysis
  • Design and execute experiments in translational hematology and oncology
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including experts in AI, microbiome analysis, and immunotherapy
  • Prepare and present your research findings at meetings and conferences
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and master’s students

 

Your profile:

  • Background in biology, molecular biology/or epigenetics or bioinformatics with adequate laboratory experience in these fields
  • Strong interest in translational cancer research
  • Experience in handling mouse models is beneficial but not required
  • Experience with bioinformatics, machine learning or microbiome analysis is a plus but not required
  • High motivation, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
