PhD student/ doctoral researcher (m/f/d)

Part-time | Temporary contract (24 month) | Department of Internal Medicine II

The research group of Dr. Katrin Böttcher is looking for a doctoral researcher to join their effort to understand how mucosal-associated T (MAIT) cells orchestrate local immune responses and contribute to antiviral defence in the liver. Our aim is to develop novel strategies for therapies against hepatitis viruses. To achieve this, we study the relevance of metabolic regulation for human MAIT cell function using modern cell biology approaches alongside immunological techniques.

Your profile:

We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled applicant interested in joining our team from July 2024. Applicants should hold a Diploma/Master degree in biology, biotechnology, (veterinary) medicine or a related area, and have a strong background in immunology with experience in molecular/cell biology and immune biology. Excellent communication skills and fluency in English are required.

We offer you:

  • A varied and professionally demanding position in a state-of-the-art, collaborative working environment
  • Expansion of your knowledge and skills in the field of molecular immunology using cutting edge techniques (e.g. multi-colour spectral flow cytometry, extracellular flux analysis, RNA Sequencing, confocal immunofluorescence imaging)
  • A structured doctoral programme through memberships in the TUM Graduate School and TRR179 Integrated Research training Group (IRTG) “Immunovirology”
  • The opportunity to present your research at national and international conferences and to take part in internal and external professional development courses
  • Work in the city centre of Munich allowing for close collaboration with numerous research groups on the campus

We look forward to your application!
