Postdoctoral Fellowship Biophysics (m/f/d)

Full-time | temporary contract | Klinik und Poliklinik Med I. (Cardiology Department)

Our work is focused on understanding the mechanisms of arrhythmia initiation, maintenance and termination in diseased porcine hearts. Therefore, the research work will include developing and implementing experimental protocols and analyzing optical mapping data, as well as computational modeling within an interdisciplinary work. We will develop methodologies to understand mechanistic patterns of turbulence in monogenetic diseases (Raad et al. Circulation 2021). This work will continue recent research focusing on large-scale testing of CRISPR-Cas technologies (Moretti et al. Nature Medicine 2020). We will aim to create a translational axis from basic science to potentially clinical applications.

Your responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities will include assisting under-/graduate students in research and publications related to the project, management of experimental logistics, and publication and presentation of the research.
  • Due to experimental nature of work and interaction with under-/graduate students, remote work arrangements should be kept minimal.…

Your profile:

  • Applicants should hold a PhD (or Dr. rer. nat.) in Physics, Biophysics, computational Biology or Neurobiology, with preference for applicants with experimental and computational work experience.
  • Post-PhD researcher desired to help in studying arrhythmogenic mechanisms and turbulence patterns in the cardiac tissue in Prof. Christian Kupatt’s research group at the MRI/TUM Cardiology Department in Munich.
  • Applications should include a good command of the English language.

We offer you:

  • An DFG and ERC-funded international research group with a well-equipped and scientifically stimulating environment and a communicative atmosphere.
  • Comprehensive on-the-job training provided by experienced and qualified colleagues.
  • An opportunity to work in the city centre of Munich with good access to public transport systems.
  • Salary in accordance with the TV-L public-sector salary scale plus attractive benefits offered to public-sector employees.

We look forward to your application!
